Popsicle Stick Dragon Craft

We are trying something NEW today! We are going to build impressive wood craft stick firing breathing dragons that are perfect to pair with our past princess and castle craft tutorials!

Using easy-to-find wooden craft sticks, craft paint, curling ribbon and cardstock paper – you too can make this magical creature within minutes! But no worries – he’s not scary at all when it comes to bringing him to life! We have made it easy in our tutorial below!

So don’t breathe out a fire of rage like a real dragon! This tutorial is SUPER EASY! Now let’s grab those craft supplies, check out the directions below and have fun making some magic with your child today!

Are you looking for an awesome craft idea that will keep the kids entertained for hours on end? Look no further than this dragon made out of popsicle sticks!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Orange Curling Ribbon
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler

Directions:

  • First glue your popsicle sticks together to look like a fence or a door {FOUR next to each other with TWO mini across}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each dragon you are making.
  • Next grab your green craft paint and the paper plate.
  • Squirt a small amount of paint on the plate.
  • Now take the paint brush and paint the front of your newly made popsicle stick shape, completely green.
  • Set it aside to allow it to dry a bit.
  • Now you are ready for the cardstock pieces. Grab all your cardstock sheets and the scissors.
  • Cut out two circular eyes, triangle ears, rectangle eyebrows and oval nostrils etc. At this point in time you should also cut/curl your curling ribbon “flames.”
  • To finish off your dragon craft – have children glue on their cardstock pieces to the painted popsicle stick shape.
  • Follow that up by stapling {or gluing} the orange curling ribbon flames on the back of the piece.
  • Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
