Popsicle Stick Astronaut Craft
Blast off to a fun learning adventure, with the help of Glued To My Crafts today!
The letter A is for “astronaut” and this paper & popsicle stick outer space kid craft tutorial is the PERFECT activity to reinforce that statement.
Like always, our craft tutorial is SUPER simple for kids {and adults} of all ages to pull together within a matter of minutes. I’ve even made EASIER by providing a free blank astronaut helmet printable that you can download and use instantly in the craft. From there, it’s just a little coloring, cutting and pasting to complete!
Like I mentioned above, this popsicle stick astronaut craft idea is a great way to “teach” the letter A in your classroom, as well as in-cooperating it into your outer space studies. Although I know it’s fun for the younger children, I bet the older ones would enjoy it as well! On that note, I hope you are inspired to recreate it right along side them, as well today!
On that note, everything you need to know can be found below, so let’s grab our craft supplies and reach for the stars! 3, 2, 1 BLAST OFF! Happy crafting my friends!!

“Aim for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars!”
With this fun and easy popsicle stick astronaut craft, your little ones can make their space dreams a reality.
Craft Supplies:
- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
- White Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Small Paper Plate
- Helmet Printable – on our landing page
- White Cardstock Paper
- Crayons, Markers, Coloring Pencils etc.
- Scissors
- Black Cardstock Paper
- Gray Cardstock Paper
- Yellow Cardstock Paper
- School Glue
- Small Star Stickers
Directions:
- First things first – squirt a small amount of white craft paint on your paper plate.
- Grab THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and paint one side of them, completely white.
- Set them aside to allow them to dry completely.
- Now print the free helmet freebie printable listed above. This print will give you SIX astronaut helmets. You only need ONE helmet cutout per astronaut craft.
- Go ahead and color in one of the helmet designs, however you like.
- When done coloring, go ahead and trim out the helmet piece with your scissors.
- At this point in time you should also cut out your astronaut’s boots from the black cardstock and a small moon shape from the yellow.
- Now grab your three white painted popsicle sticks, school glue and all your paper pieces.
- Glue your popsicle sticks together to look like an “A” in the center of the gray cardstock.
- Next grab your cardstock helmet piece and glue it to the top of the “A” shape. This is his head.
- Follow that up by gluing on his boots on the two remaining tips of the “A” shape.
- To finish off your Popsicle Stick Astronaut craft – simply decorate the background of the paper to look like outer space. Glue down the moon shape and add star stickers all around.
- Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly for all to see!
- If desired, repeat all the steps above {again} for the remaining helmet shape cutouts.
