Your kiddos will love making this super easy and fun paper plate moon & star craft! Just keep scrolling for all the details and free printable from us!
Craft Supplies:
- Large Paper Plate – one per moon craft
- Basic Craft Scissors
- Blue Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Loose Craft Glitter {yellow, blue or silver}
- Free Star Shape Printable {found on box.com}
- White Cardstock Paper
- Color Printer
- Yellow Crayon, Marker or Coloring Pencil
- Hand-Held Office Stapler
Directions:
- First things first – print off the FREE star printable listed above in the supply list. One print will give you TWO star cutouts {and two chances to make a moon today!}
- Next – color one of the star shapes completely yellow and trim it out with your scissors.
- Set aside the finished star shape for now.
- Up next – the paper plate moon. Grab the plate, along with your scissors.
- Cut the paper plate to look like a half moon {use our image as an example.} The best way I can describe it is to cut out a half circle from one side from the paper plate.
- Discard the excess piece from the paper plate.
- Now you are going to paint your paper plate shape. I went with blue but you can of course change that up!
- BTW – while the paint is still wet – go ahead and sprinkle loose craft glitter on top for a little sparkle.
- To finish off the paper plate moon craft, simply staple the star shape from earlier, to the paper plate.
- And that’s it! You can either add some more elements {maybe a smiling face} or go straight to displaying it proudly for ALL to see!

Make It Your Own:
- Instead of printing the free star file on a simple sheet of white cardstock paper, swap it out for colored paper instead and take out the “coloring in” step listed above.
- Don’t feel limited by my choice of colors that I used as an example in this tutorial. I highly encourage you and your child to experiment with different colors of craft paint, to see what really makes your moon and star POP out!
- Don’t have a printer? No worries my friends! Just hand-draw and cut out a simple “star” shape from some basic construction paper, instead!
