Chalk Art Outer Space Craft

Let your little one blast into space with today’s Paper Chalk Art Outer Space craft idea! There’s even a free printable to get them started within a matter of minutes!

Paper & Sidewalk Chalk Art Outer Space Craft For Kids

Sidewalk Chalk Art Outer Space Craft

Caution! Our chalk art projects are pretty addictive. Even for adults! I’m living proof of that! Every time I think I’m going to put away my pack of chalk, I come up with a NEW idea to share with you all. I hope you are enjoying them as much as I enjoy sharing them!

Today’s Chalk Art Outer Space craft is a budget friendly one. After you hit up the school supply aisle in your local store for a simple pack of colored chalk, you will be well on your way to pulling this “out of this world” outer space craft idea together within minutes. With the main two supplies being paper and your choice of coloring mediums, you really can’t go wrong with this one!

So what are we waiting for? Let’s step outside the traditional and bring the chalk that you normally use outdoors on the sidewalks, indoors on paper instead! All the details and the free outer space printable from us can be found below.

Don’t let this abstract craft idea slip away. Make room in your busy summer schedule to recreate this chalk art space craft with your child today & then show off those spaceship craft creations, with pride, with us! We love seeing those pictures so tag them with #gluedtomycrafts on your social media sites!

A HUGE thank you to DailyArtHub.com for the files I used in the freebie today!

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free space printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in all the elements in the printable, however you like. Feel free to make it as elaborate as you like!
  • When done coloring in the piece, use your craft scissors to trim out each piece.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab a single sheet of black colored cardstock and your adhesive.
  • Glue the planet paper piece down first, followed by the rocket and then the moon.
  • Now grab your various pieces of colored chalk.
  • Envision flames coming from the rocket, as well as stars in space.
  • Draw these on the black paper with your chalk.
  • When done with the chalk, use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.

Customize It:

  • Instead of printing the free planet and space rocket file we provided above, on a simple sheet of white cardstock, you can easily swap it out for colored paper instead and take out the “coloring in” step listed above.
  • Don’t feel limited by my choice of colors that I used as an example in this tutorial. Experiment with different colors of paper and chalk, to see what really makes your dress POP from the page.
  • On that note, did you know you can dip your chalk in water to make the colors more vibrant on your paper? Yup! Just set a small dish with tap water on the table, dip the chalk in it for a few seconds and then draw on the paper the same way as before.
  • Don’t have a printer? No worries my friends! Just hand-draw your pieces on regular paper and cut them out, instead!
