Paper Plate Pineapple - Kid Craft Idea w/Handprint Cutouts!

Tissue Paper Pineapple Craft

This is probably really random BUT when I was pregnant with my son {nearly five years ago} I craved pineapple ALL the time.

But it had to be the fresh stuff and ice cold, otherwise it was a no-go for the pregnant lady. Another weird fact. Lil Man isn’t a big fan of pineapple these days. In fact, he pretty much avoids it when I place it on his plate. Maybe he got sick of me eating it all the time back then. HA!

Anyways – back to the real reason for this today’s post. If you haven’t guessed already, this blog post is ALL about how we recently made this tissue paper covered pineapple art project together.

Although Lil Man is not a big fan of fresh pineapple itself, he sure had a lot of fun creating this particular craft with me. No surprise there because it’s super simple and fun for all ages & also goes along PERFECTLY with the upcoming summer weather we are patiently waiting for!

So what are you waiting for? Grab those craft supplies and follow our step-by-step tutorial below. Who knows – this Paper Plate Pineapple might even make your crave some of the fresh stuff too!

Happy crafting, my friends! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your finished tissue paper and handprint cutout pineapples with us by tagging us on Instagram. I can’t wait to see what you create!

Check out our AMAZON storefront for supplies!

Directions:

  • First trim your paper plate down to look like a pineapple. We just cut two sides down, until it almost looked like a football when we were done.
  • Once you have the design you like, grab your yellow tissue paper and cut it into small squares.
  • Now put a good amount of glue all over the paper plate pineapple cutout.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until it’s completely covered. Set aside.
  • Now grab your green cardstock. Trace your child’s hands on it three times and trim those out.
  • To finish off the paper plate pineapple craft, simply staple on the handprint “leaves” to the paper plate and draw some dots on the yellow tissue paper, to really give the look of a pineapple.
  • Then display your pineapple craft proudly for everyone to see!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
