Easter Chick Paper Plate Craft

Calling all my crafty kids! I have another fun kid friendly craft for you all today and it’s absolutely perfect to make in honor of the upcoming Easter holiday or even all spring long!

Not only is our Paper Plate Chick craft tutorial is super simple and fun for all ages, as well as going along PERFECTLY with the wacky {but super fun} book There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick! by Lucille Colandro.

“With rhyming text and funny illustrations, this lively version of a classic song will appeal to young readers with every turn of the page–a fun story for Easter!”

So why does the old lady swallow a yellow chick? Well – you will have to read the book to find out and celebrate with our paper chick craft afterwards! Find all the details you need to know, below!

Paper Plate Easter Chick Craft Idea
Create a fun paper plate chick for Easter! This simple craft is perfect for kids and adds joy to spring celebrations.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – 1 per craft
  • Yellow Tissue Paper
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Pen or Marker

Directions:

  • First have your children cut their yellow tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills}
  • Now take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue in the center of the plate.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the center is completely covered.
  • While they are working on that, cut out pieces for the chick from the orange & white cardstock {think eyes, beak and feet}
  • Now grab the yellow cardstock and trace your child’s hands on it. Trim those out.
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Chick craft – have children glue/staple on the cardstock pieces to the paper plate and display proudly!
