The holiday season is all about creating memories—and what better way to capture those special moments than with a homemade craft that doubles as a keepsake?
Today’s fingerprint Christmas light picture frame is the perfect holiday project for kids. Not only is it easy to make, but it also allows your little ones to express their creativity while giving you a beautiful decoration to treasure for years to come.
So on that note, grab your art supplies and some festive cheer—it’s time to get started on making a fingerprint holiday light picture frame gift with your child today!
Whether you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your family or a unique gift for grandparents, this thumbprint covered Christmas light frame craft idea has it all!
Craft Supplies:
Before you begin crafting, make sure you gather all the required materials. The good news is that this fingerprint Christmas light picture frame project only requires simple, affordable supplies—many of which you probably already have at home.
- Unfinished Wooden Craft Frame
- Washable Craft Paint
- Small Paper Plate
- Black Sharpie Paint Pen
- Baby Wipes
Once you’ve gathered your materials, set up a workspace (preferably covered with newspaper to avoid messes), and you’re good to go.
Directions:
- First things first – use your black marker to write your wording on your wood frame first. We did “you light up my life” on the bottom but you can of course change up the phrase {or skip it!} as well.
- Follow that up by drawing the “light strands” all around the remaining frame. This is done by drawing a few squiggly lines all around.
- Next up – squirt your washable craft paint on a paper plate.
- Have children dip their finger in the paint, then press it down on the wood craft piece, somewhere along one of the squiggle lines.
- Repeat the painted fingerprints all over the picture frame, until they have the look they like.
- When they are done, clean off the paint from fingers with a baby wipe.
- Allow the painted covered picture frame to dry completely before moving onto the finally steps.
- Finish off the craft by adding a picture to the center.
- Then add other embellishments you see fit before displaying their Christmas light picture frame proudly and/or gifting it away!
