Crayon Box Photo Ornament

Christmas is the perfect time of year to bring everyone together for some fun, meaningful crafting. If you’re looking for an easy, creative, and personalized holiday project, this crayon box photo ornament is a wonderful choice!

It’s a craft that kids will love making, and it doubles as a cherished keepsake to hang on your Christmas tree or give as a thoughtful gift to loved ones.

Craft Supplies:

To create your crayon box photo ornament, gather the following supplies:

  • Crayon Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or String
  • Printed Picture
  • Embellishments

These simple materials are inexpensive and easy to find, and they make for a fun crafting session no matter the age group.

Directions:

  • First things first – download the free “crayon box” printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper {or any colored paper instead!}
  • Go ahead and color in ONE of the box designs however you like.
  • Use scissors to trim it out. Go ahead and also cut out the window design in the middle as well.
  • Now cut two equal sized piece of contact paper.
  • Peel the backing off of one piece of contact paper and lay it down, sticky side up, on your work surface.
  • Lay the bus cutout on top of the contact paper, facing towards you.
  • Trim down your picture so it fits inside the ornament. Lay it inside the design as well.
  • Now peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of the first.
  • Use your hand to make sure everything is sealed together and that no bubbles exist.
  • When ready, use scissors to trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges.
  • For the final touch, add embellishments {if needed – use a hot glue gun} for a customized look.
  • Then hold punch a hole on top and string some string through it for easy hanging.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful crayon box photo ornament piece!
