Christmas Ornament Snail – Holiday Kid Craft
I’m so excited to be adding this Christmas kids craft tutorial to my blog archives. Seriously – my best ideas always hit me late at night, when I’m about to go to bed. AHHH I can’t contain the excitement anymore! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. BTW – do you see my vision of how I took the Christmas bulb ornament and made it the “shell” for my holiday snail?! Clever, right?!
If you would like to recreate this Paper and Craft Foam Christmas Ornament Snail idea with your child today, you can find all the details below. I purchased ALL my materials from Michaels recently but honestly you can raid your own craft stash for pretty much everything you need. You don’t even need the craft foam Christmas bulb shapes I used in mine. You could use a paper plate that you decorate to look like an ornament or cut out a large, basic circle shape from paper and decorate that instead. So many ways!
I just want to throw out there that I really hope that you and your child are encourage to think outside the box when it comes to designing your snail made from a Christmas light bulb. I want you both to feel good about what you use, so don’t feel limited by what you see in my pictures. If you want it to really sparkle – grab the glitter, the sequins – whatever your crafty heart desires to make it shine! You want it more plain? No worries! Add as little or as much as you like! With today’s post, I just hope to inspire and get those wheels spinning as you build away! After all – that’s the BEST part of crafting in the first place. You take my idea and expand on it & the creativity just grows from there!
So without further ado, I’ll let you get to “designing” the perfect Christmas bulb snail friend today! I’ve linked to a few supplies the Michaels’ and Amazon website below, to get you started on the perfect building supplies!
And on last note – one of the steps is to add some string to the hole towards the top of the craft foam bulb piece. Guess what? This makes this craft PERFECT to display on the Christmas tree afterwards, as a real ornament! Mind blown!
Happy crafting, my dear friends and don’t forget to share pictures of your new Christmas light bulb ornament snail with us on our Facebook page! I can’t wait to see how you give your snail it’s own personality and style! #gluedtomycrafts
