THREE Popsicle Stick Christmas Picture Frame Craft Ideas

The holiday season is a magical time for families, filled with joy and creativity. What better way to capture the spirit of Christmas than by crafting something special with your kids?

Today’s THREE popsicle stick Christmas picture frame ideas are a delightful and simple craft that can become a cherished holiday decoration or a heartfelt gift.

This craft project encourages children to express their creativity while developing fine motor skills. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to spend quality time together as a family!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {three per craft}
  • School Glue or Hot Glue Gun
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock Paper
  • 4×6 Printed Picture
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Embellishments

Directions:

All THREE ideas will start with a basic triangle shape. From there you can either make a tree, Santa hat or reindeer.

  • First have children assemble the base of their ornament by gluing THREE popsicle sticks together to look like a triangle.
  • Once the base structure is complete, you’ll have a solid frame ready to be decorated. Allow the glue to set for a few minutes before moving on to the fun part—decorating your frame!
  • Now squirt some craft paint on a paper plate and have children paint their popsicle stick shape. For the hat you will want red. For the tree they will want green. As for the reindeer, that can be left blank or painted brown.
  • Again, set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat for each piece.
  • Next grab your scissors printed picture.
  • Trim it down to fit inside the popsicle stick piece.
  • Glue it to the back of your piece.
  • To finish off the Craft Stick Christmas Ornaments – have children add the various elements that pull off the theme. For the tree they will want a tree stump and rhinestone ornaments. For Santa’s hat, you will want to help them add on cotton balls. And for the reindeer, a red nose, pipe cleaner antlers and ears will bring him to life.
  • Once done, set it all aside to let it dry completely before you display them proudly.
  • For easy displaying – glue some string to the back for easy hanging on the tree or for adding to gift packages under the tree!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
