I’m hoping to fill up YOUR cup with tons of love and kindness with our latest kids craft tutorial!

Popsicle Stick Cup of Kindness - Kid Craft

Cup of Kindness Craft Made From Popsicle Sticks

Today’s Popsicle Stick Cup of Kindness craft idea is a hands-on art project idea for young kids to tackle today AND in the same breathe, you can teach them that kindness is important, no matter the day, situation or time of year.

Although I’m “plopping” this in the Valentine’s Day category on our website, it’s honestly perfect for any day you might have in mind. I really believe that it’s a great door opener to a good talk with your child, while you sit down together at the table and craft the afternoon away. It’s my version of making a cup of LOVE. You can talk about the imaginative things you can put in the mug, while also hitting hard on what doesn’t belong.

While I was “brewing” up this crafty idea recently, I also thought it would be great for little crafters to give their finished kindness mug piece to a lucky receiver {or maybe a random stranger!} of their choosing. You could even include a small gift card to a local coffee shop, on the back, for them to enjoy!

This DIY is also great to turn into an ornament, gift tag, something you hang on the fridge etc. So many ideas and I hope it sparks something within you & your child! Although I used shades of pinks and reds for mine, please don’t feel limited by what I did. I highly encourage you and your child to think outside the box and BREW the perfect cup of kindness of YOUR choosing today!

Well – enough chit chat from me. It’s time to spread some cheer! Let’s grab our craft supplies, check out the full tutorial below and then learn how YOU can make this AWESOME {that can be customized} Craft Stick Cup of Kindness Mug with your child RIGHT NOW!

  • When it’s dry, you are ready for paint. Squirt some craft paint on your paper plate.
  • Grab your foam paint brush and go ahead & paint your craft stick mug shape however you like.
  • When done with that step, set aside the painted wood shape to allow it to dry a bit.
  • Now grab your choice of color in cardstock and the scissors.
  • Cut out a simple handle shape that will go on the side of the mug.
  • To finish off your Popsicle Stick Kindness Mug – have children glue on the paper mug handle shape, as well as any other embellishments, such as a paper heart doily and heart sticker to the center of the mug.
  • Allow everything to dry completely in an undisturbed location.
  • Then display proudly when you are done! Cheers!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
