FRI-YAY Paper Handprint French Fries – Kid Craft Idea
How many of you say HAPPY FRI-YAY when Friday finally rolls around?!
In our house, this is probably our favorite day of the week and we look forward to it every Monday morning {especially for lil man who looks forward to the weekends and no school days!}
So with it being Wednesday today, I want you to do something for me. OK?
I want you to recreate this Handprint French Fry kid craft idea with your child this afternoon. No ifs, ands or buts. Then when it’s done, give it to someone special on Friday morning to make their day. That’s it. I challenge you to spread some cheer. Could you even pair it with a McDonald’s gift card or something similar.
It’s so simple and I’ve even included a “Fri-Yay” downloadable printable below, so you can make THREE of these paper pieces with your today.
Find all the details below. Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures with us on our Facebook page to see! #gluedtomycrafts

Paper French Fries Craft Supplies:
- 5.75″ Square Red Envelopes {I got mine from Paper Source}
- White Cardstock Paper
- Light Blue Colored Cardstock Paper
- Free FRY-YAY Printable {download HERE}
- Color Printer
- Yellow Craft Paint
- Paint Brush
- Paper Plate
- Paper Craft Scissors
- Glue Stick
Directions:
- First things first – download and print our free FRI-YAY printable listed above. The tags in the provided printable will allow you to make THREE of these handprint fries pieces today.
- Trim out each oval tag in the printable and set them all aside.
- Discard excess paper from the printable.
- Now for the handprints. Grab another sheet of white cardstock, your yellow craft paint, a paint brush and the paper plate.
- Squirt some yellow paint on the paper plate.
- Place the paint brush in the paint.
- One by one, paint the palms of your child’s hands completely yellow and press them on the white cardstock.
- Remove excess paint from their hands with a baby wipe and a quick trip to the sink.
- Set aside the yellow handprints you just made, to allow them to dry completely.
- Next up – the fries box. Grab your red envelope, one fri-yay tag from earlier, the glue stick, scissors and a sheet of light blue cardstock.
- Depending on the envelope {I repeat, I got mine at Paper Source but Amazon has similar} you might have to trim it down a bit to make it resemble a fry box. I just cut off the flap on ours. If you purchase from Amazon, you might have to cut a little more off the envelope than we did. If you don’t have a red envelope, you can make something yourself out of red paper. Just use our images for an inspiration.
- Now go ahead and glue your fry box envelope you just made, to the center of the blue cardstock.
- Follow that up by gluing down one of the “fri-yay” tags to the front of the envelope.
- Finally, when the yellow handprint “fries” are dry enough, use scissors to trim them both out.
- Slide them both into the red envelope and secure them in place to make them look like fries.
- Follow that up by adding any other embellishments you see fit and then give away your paper handprint fries piece proudly!
- Repeat the above steps for the two remaining fri-yay tags.
- Then when done, come share pictures of your paper handprint french fries keepsake on our Facebook page to see!
Quick Joke To Tell Afterwards:
Why did the french fry lose the race? It couldn’t KETCHUP with everyone!
Now isn’t this a creative craft? I seriously LOVE it so much!
And like I mentioned above, if you don’t have access to a square red envelope, you can ALWAYS make something by hand by just using a single sheet of red cardstock and your scissors. You could also skip our fri-yay tags if you don’t have a printer at home and hand-draw something instead. My goal is to inspire you regardless and hopefully I did just that!
