Today we are bringing our super popular popsicle stick superhero tutorial back to life from 2015 and doing a few seasonal swaps in the supply list, so it’s even BETTER for the Christmas season we are in!
Just like our previous masked friend craft tutorial, today’s popsicle stick Christmas superheroes tutorial only involves a few simple supplies like craft paint, wood craft sticks and some holiday colored paper. The only thing I changed from the previous idea is that I added a mini popsicle stick “arm” so it really looks like Santa and his elf friend are taking flight in the night. I would like to think Santa and his sidekick are off to fight crime, while delivering those awesome presents ;)
So friends – enough chit chat from me. I’m sure you are ready to get to the action packed and fun filled craft idea & pull this Christmas superhero puppet DIY together for your child right now. I’ll let you get to it!
Go grab your capes, the craft supplies and find the FULL tutorial below. Then get to work on crafting up these AWESOME holiday superhero puppets made from popsicle sticks with your child this afternoon!
Happy crafting and fighting crime with your children, my friends!!! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your craft stick superhero Santa and elf friend with us on our Facebook page. I want to see how you give them each their own style and festive flair! #gluedtomycrafts

Popsicle Stick Christmas Superhero Craft Supplies:
* Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {one per superhero puppet}
* Mini Popsicle Sticks {one per superhero puppet}
* Red or Green Craft Paint {red for Santa and green for the elf}
* Small Paper Plate
* Paint Brushes
* Extra Small Wiggle Eyes
* Holiday Colored Cardstock or Scrapbook Paper
* School Glue or Low-Temp Hot Glue Gun
* Craft Scissors
* Cotton Balls {for the Santa puppet}
* Black Sharpie Marker
* Small Doll Sized Santa Hats {one per superhero puppet}
Directions:
* First things first – choice which superhero puppet you are going to do first. Will you make a Santa or elf superhero?
* Now squirt the corresponding color of craft paint on the paper plate.
* Grab ONE jumbo popsicle stick and ONE mini popsicle stick per Christmas puppet.
* Go ahead and paint on the “suit” on the jumbo popsicle stick, making sure you leave some blank space on one end, for the puppet’s face.
* At this point in time you should also paint the mini popsicle stick with the same corresponding paint color, leaving some blank space for the “hand” of the puppet.
* Set aside the two painted pieces to allow them to dry completely.
* Next up – grab all your paper and craft scissors.
* Start off by cutting out a triangle for the superhero’s cape.
* Follow that up by cutting out a small belt and a rectangle for his mask.
* Add wiggle eyes on the paper mask piece.
* Now glue all the paper pieces to the painted popsicle stick shape from earlier. The cape goes on the back of the craft stick and the other two paper pieces on the front.
* To finish off the Popsicle Stick Christmas Superheroes – add the Santa hat embellishment on top of the puppet’s head to tie the theme together.
* Then if you are making a Santa puppet, go ahead and glue on the cotton ball “beard” under his mask.
* If making the elf, simply use the black Sharpie marker to draw a smile underneath.
* Finally – glue on the painted mini popsicle stick “arm” in place, on the jumbo popsicle stick.
* Then add other embellishments you see fit {like glitter, rhinestones, holiday stickers etc}
* Now allow everything to dry completely before you play/display it proudly for all to see!
* Don’t forget to share pictures with us when you are done! #gluedtomycrafts
