Thumbprint BEE Bookmark - Kid Made Gift

Get your kids into reading with this fun and easy paper bookmark craft idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Bookmark Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Washable Yellow Ink Pad
  • Baby Wipes
  • Thin Tip Markers
  • optional materials – laminator, colored cardstock, glue stick

Check out our AMAZON storefront for supplies!

Directions:

  • First check out the link listed in the supply list above and print out the bee bookmark template on white cardstock paper. One printable makes FIVE different bookmarks at a time. Please only use our file for personal use.
  • Use a paper trimmer to trim out each section and make FIVE bookmarks total.
  • If desired, adhere each cut out to another sheet of cardstock to make the bookmarks more sturdy. Discard excess paper.
  • Next open your yellow ink pad up.
  • Place your thumb on the ink pad, then on one of the bookmarks, near the beehive. Follow that up by adding another thumbprint so you have TWO bees flying around.
  • Repeat the thumbprint step on each bookmark.
  • Use baby wipes to remove excess ink off of your fingers before washing hands completely at the sink. This step is VERY important so they don’t accidentally get extra ink or oil on the bookmarks.
  • Once done washing your hands and they are completely dry, you can draw on embellishments with the thin-tip black Sharpie marker to bring the “bees” to life. Think antennas, a smile, a stringer – etc.
  • Follow that up by adding other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then the last step is to sign your name on the provided spaces on the bookmarks, before you gift your thumbprint bee bookmark{s} away to someone special.
  • Completely optional – to make the bookmarks last longer, add contact paper on top of your paper pieces or run them through a laminator to make them nice & sturdy.

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
