Paper Bag Black Cat - Kid Craft

Making a spooky paper bag black cat craft is the purr-fect way to get in the Halloween spirit! Let’s get creative and have some fun together – who’s with me?

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Brown Paper Bag
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Paper Brush
  • Scissors
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Thick Tacky Glue
  • Medium Sized Pom Poms
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Large Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First things first – lay your brown paper bag on a flat surface, with the bottom flap of the paper bag DOWN. You want your child to paint the side of the paper bag that is completely FLAT.
  • Squirt some black craft paint on a paper plate. Have children paint their paper bag completely black. Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Once the paint is dry, grab the bag and scissors. Cut out a large triangle from the OPEN END of the bag, in the center, so you create TWO ears for your feline friend. Please use our image to see an example.
  • Now grab your wiggle eyes, pipe cleaners {two per cat} and pom pom.
  • Take the pipe cleaners and twist them together in the center, to create whiskers.
  • Now glue all three materials {wiggle eyes, pom pom nose and pipe cleaner whiskers} onto the face of your cat on the paper bag.
  • Finally, grab your choice in color of cardstock and cut out two triangles for the center of the cat’s ears. Glue those to the paper bag as well.
  • Be sure to set aside your cat piece in an undisturbed area, so it dries completely.
  • Once your Paper Bag Black Cat is dry and everything is secured in place, you can display your cat friend FLAT {just how you crafted it} or open up the bag a bit so it stands up nicely.

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
