Thumbprint Fill Someone's Bucket Up Craft

Fingerprint Bucket of Love Craft Idea For Kids

Have you ever heard of “bucket filling?” I slightly mentioned it the other day in my “You Are A Star” post and craft idea.

I didn’t know about “this phrase” until my son came home from second grade and told me how he filled someone’s bucket that day.

After asking him some questions to understand the concept better, it’s where when you fill someone else’s bucket, you fill your bucket too. For example, you make someone smile with a simple friendly act. Then in turn you smile too. You both smile together. That awesome domino effect!

Some examples of filling someone else’s bucket is sharing, listening, smiling, helping, being polite, complimenting, taking turns, including others… anything and everything that involves being KIND!

A simple concept, right? It’s just a breathe of fresh air from the other things going on in the world. So here’s your reminder – be kind and remember to fill someone’s bucket today 🙂

Anyways – after brainstorming some ideas, I came up with this simple Valentine’s Day Thumbprint Heart Bucket craft idea that I just knew would be perfect to share with you all!

There’s even a free printable {of course – that’s the Glued To My Crafts way of filling up your bucket!} to get you started with ease. From there, you just download, print, add a few thumbprint hearts and gift it to someone who might need a little pick-me-up that day.

I just hope you find it as awesome as I think it is and in turn you decide to make this “card idea” with your child as well! It’s great conversation starter too! Spread some kindness and fill up those buckets!

Find all the details below, along with the free provided bucket printable! Happy crafting, my friends!

Thumbprint Fill Someone's Bucket Up Craft

Looking for a fun and easy craft to do with kids this Valentine’s Day? Look no further than this thumbprint heart craft!

Craft Supplies:

  • Valentine Bucket – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Ink Pads
  • Baby Wipes
  • Thin Tip Markers
  • Small Heart Stickers or Rhinestone Stickers

You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link!

Directions:

  • First access the link listed in the supply list and print in color, the bucket template on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. One printable makes one bucket craft.
  • Next open up your ink pad and lay it next to the printable.
  • Have children press their thumb on the ink pad, then in the center of the printable, where the opening of the bucket is. Follow that up by making another “print” next to the first, slightly angled, to make a heart shape.
  • Repeat the thumbprint step, several times, to make a whole bunch of hearts coming from the bucket.
  • Use baby wipes to remove excess ink off of fingers before washing hands completely at the sink.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit {maybe some tiny heart stickers or a little glitter!}
  • Then the last step is to sign their name and the lucky receiver on the top of the printable.
  • Then gift away the “bucket full of love” creation!

At Glued To My Crafts we really enjoy incorporating those little thumbprints into our craft tutorials!
