Thumbprint Birthday Balloons Card Craft - 1

Birthdays are special occasions that should be celebrated with family and friends. And what better way to make someone feel loved and appreciated on their birthday than by giving them a handmade card?

So grab some paper, ink pads, and your little one’s thumbs as we dive into this creative crafting adventure together!

Card Supplies:

  • Birthday Card Printable – on our landing page
  • Washable Ink Pads
  • Cardstock Paper/Cards
  • Craft Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Baby Wipes
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First check out the link listed above in the supply list and print out the birthday card template on white cardstock paper. One printable makes FOUR cards at a time.
  • Use a paper trimmer to trim out each rectangle design.
  • Adhere each cut out piece to a single, folded cardstock card front.
  • Next up open your ink pad up.
  • Place your thumb {or index finger} on the ink pad. You are going to make several “fingerprint” balloons in the provided design.
  • Repeat the thumbprint step on each card.
  • Use baby wipes to remove excess ink off of your fingers before washing your hands completely at the sink.
  • Now the final steps – personalization! Add any other embellishments you see fit. I added heart stickers but you can add anything you like.
  • The last step is to write a message in the inside of the decorated card.
  • Then gift away your Birthday Balloon Cards to the lucky receivers!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
