Directions:
- First save the birthday printable listed above in the supply list.
- Go ahead and now print in out, in color, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper {or on any color cardstock you like!}
- Grab your craft paint and squirt a small amount on your paper plate.
- Paint the palm of your child’s hand completely and then press it down, in the center of the printable.
- Lift up their hand gently to reveal the painted handprint on the paper.
- Use a baby wipe {and a quick trip to the sink} to remove the remaining craft paint on their hand.
- Now set aside your handprint keepsake to let it dry completely.
- Then add other embellishments to give your Birthday Keepsake piece a personalized look {like a number sticker in the palm of the handprint} as well as having children sign the bottom with their name.
- Finally, display, store or gift it away proudly!
- Don’t forget to snap a few pictures to share with us afterwards as well!

But wait – there’s more thing to see!
- If you don’t have a printer at home, please don’t feel discouraged. Nope! You will not be left out my dear friends!
- If you love this handprint craft idea and happen to have a blank canvas in your craft stash right now, you can still make a memorable birthday keepsake with your child and have a beautiful piece to treasure for years to come!
- Take for example this “handprint birthday cake” canvas I made with my son back in 2015 {pictured above.} He just so happened to be turning four that year, so we did FOUR painted finger candles for the cake. You however can do all five fingers or three…etc. The choice is yours to run with! Hopefully my quick picture sparks something for you as well!
- BTW – You can also use the “fingers” of the hands for a unique birthday card as well! You draw on the candles, right above each finger design. See the image below for an example of that!
