Paper Plate & Yarn Unicorn Head Craft Idea

Our latest tutorial doesn’t require too much time or materials and kids of all ages can enjoy making their own version. This fun paper plate craft project also introduces young minds to basic shapes, colors, and textures — plus provides a source of positive energy with its feel-good vibes.

If you’re looking for a fun and easy craft idea for kids, look no further than this paper plate unicorn craft tutorial!
Craft Supplies:
- Large Paper Plate
- Single Hole Punch
- Tye-Dye Craft Yarn
- Scissors
- White Cardstock Paper
- Gold Cardstock Paper
- Pink Cardstock Paper
- School Glue
- Stapler
- Black Marker
- Large Googly Eyes
Directions:
- First things first – have children hole punch FIVE holes {a small section of space between each} on the rim of their paper plate.
- Once done, set aside the plate.
- Now grab your yarn and cut THREE 5″ inch strands of yarn per hole punch on the paper plate {15 strands total for each unicorn}
- Go ahead and thread/tie three stands together in each hole punched hole. This will be the unicorns hair.
- At this point in time you can also trim down the hair if you like {or add more yarn if desired!}
- Next grab your cardstock. Cut out a unicorn horn, two ears and mouth out of the cardstock paper.
- To finish off the Paper Plate Unicorn, have children staple/glue their cardstock pieces and wiggle eyes to the paper plate.
- Now add other embellishments you see fit to give your unicorn a custom look.
- Then display proudly for all to see!
