Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Bowl – 1 per craft
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Pink Cardstock Paper
  • Gold Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Black Marker
  • Yarn/String

Directions:

  • One paper bowl will make ONE unicorn so go ahead and pull that out, along with your sheets of cardstock paper & the scissors.
  • Have children cut out a large oval nose, thin triangle unicorn horn, petal shaped ears etc. for EACH unicorn they are making today. When done cutting, set all the paper pieces aside.
  • Next up – grab your craft yarn and the scissors again.
  • Cut off a handful of 4 inch pieces of yarn to make the hair {maybe 10-20 strands depending on the look you like}
  • Lay them all together, facing the same direction.
  • Cut another piece of yarn and tie it around the center of your yarn bunch, to create the hair. Trim it up if need be.
  • To finish off your Paper Bowl Unicorn, lay the paper bowl with the under side facing up on your work station.
  • Next have children glue {or staple} their cardstock pieces in place on the bowl, as well as the yarn hair.
  • Follow that up by grabbing the marker and drawing on two eyelashes with the black sharpie marker.
  • Finally add any other embellishments they see fit {like glitter, heart stickers etc.} before displaying proudly!
  • Remember to encourage your child to really add their own crafty spin along the way!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
