Our tutorial is a fun and easy craft project for Valentine’s Day. Kids will love creating and showing off their heart shaped unicorn creations!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Craft Foam Hearts
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Gold Glitter Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • Tye-dye Craft Yarn

Directions:

  • One craft foam heart will make ONE unicorn. Go ahead and pull it out in front of you.
  • First grab all your sheets of cardstock paper and scissors. Have children cut a nose, unicorn horn, ears etc. for EACH unicorn they are making.
  • Set all the paper pieces aside when you are done.
  • Now grab the craft yarn and the scissors again.
  • Cut a handful of 4 inch pieces of yarn {maybe 10-20 strands depending on how full you want the hair to be.}
  • Lay them all together, facing all the same direction.
  • Cut another piece of yarn and tie it around the center of your yarn bunch. This will the unicorn’s hair.
  • To finish off your Craft Foam Heart Unicorn, have children glue their cardstock pieces in place, as well stapling on the yarn hair to the top of the heart shape.
  • Then add a wiggle eye and any other embellishments they see fit {like glitter, heart stickers etc.} before displaying proudly!
  • Remember to encourage your child to really add their own crafty spin along the way!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
