Valentine's Day Shoe Photo Ornament Craft

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, you may be looking for fun and festive craft ideas to do with your kids using supplies you likely already have at home or in the classroom. Well… you are in luck with our latest first-seen-here “you’re a shoe-in to be my valentine” craft idea!

This valentine inspired shoe photo ornament craft allows kids to make a unique gift for someone else, while also getting their creative juices flowing with their custom decorating skills.

It’s the perfect low-mess activity to do together as a family or in the classroom, to brighten up someone else’s day. The best part is that all you need is some paper, clear contact paper, ribbon and a small photo to make these sweet shoe ornaments come to life before the big day.

Kids will step into love with this sweet Valentine’s sneaker shoe ornament craft idea from us!

Craft Supplies:

  • Shoe Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Ribbon or String
  • Printed Picture
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – download the free shoe printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper {or any colored paper instead!}
  • Go ahead and color in ONE of the blank shoe designs however you like.
  • Use scissors to trim it out. Go ahead and also cut out the circle design in the middle as well.
  • Next up – cut two equal sized piece of contact paper.
  • Peel the backing off of one piece of contact paper and lay it down, sticky side up, on your work surface.
  • Lay the present cutout on top of the contact paper, facing towards you.
  • Trim down your picture so it fits inside the ornament. Lay it inside the design.
  • If desired, sprinkle some loose craft glitter now on top, to fill in blank spots and add some sparkle.
  • Now peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of the first.
  • Use your hand to make sure everything is sealed together and that no bubbles exist.
  • When ready, use scissors to trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges.
  • For the final touch, add embellishments for a customized look.
  • Then make a simple bow out of some ribbon and staple it where the “laces” would be in the shoe.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful Valentine’s Day sneaker photo ornament piece!
