Valentine’s Day Puppy Craft For Kids

It’s another new day and we have ANOTHER kid friendly Valentine’s Day themed kid craft to share with you all!

This time I’m titling it Paper Valentine Holding Puppy and I hope you love it as much as I do! #gluedtomycrafts

Valentine Holding Puppy - Kids Craft

Valentine Puppy Craft Idea For Kids To Recreate

My excitement gets bigger and bigger, as we get closer to February. I am seriously so excited to see what 2019 holds for Glued To My Crafts! I have so many new ideas and concepts in mind, that I just can’t wait to share them all with you, in the coming weeks {if only there was more time in the day!}

Anyways – I’m a little side tracked. You are clearly here to see what this Valentine Holding Puppy tutorial is all about. It’s just an adorable puppy holding {what I like to think} a “valentine chocolate box” that just so happens to be a few inexpensive craft foam and paper heart doilies. Do you see the vision too?

And of course, just like what you can expect more of on our website, it includes a FREE printable template from us to get you started. The puppy head and paws will fit perfectly on ANY type of heart cutouts you may find this time of year.

I just so happened to pick up mine at Michaels recently but Target has some larger in their seasonal stuff right now. And no worries if you can’t find any in your area. You could easily make this tutorial still work by either hand cutting a large heart out of paper OR cutting a plain paper plate into a heart shape as well. So many ideas, we hope you make it work!

So now… below you will find all the details, instructions and supply list for our latest Paper Plate Valentine Holding Puppy tutorial! Happy crafting!!!

Valentine's Day Puppy Craft For Kids

Looking for a fun and easy Valentine’s Day craft for the kids? Look no further than this adorable puppy craft!

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Puppy Head & Paws Template {grab it on box.com}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Color Printer
  • Crayons {I used pink}
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Large Craft Foam Heart Shapes {one per craft}
  • Medium Craft Foam Heart Shapes {one per craft}
  • Paper Heart Doilies {one per craft}
  • Hand Held Stapler
  • Large Eyeball Stickers or Wiggle Eyes – two per craft
  • optional materials – embellishments to make your cat a girl!

Directions:

  • First things first – print out the valentine puppy template that is listed above in the supply list.
  • Print it out on a piece of simple white cardstock paper. You need ONE puppy printable per Valentine’s Day craft.
  • Next up – grab the crayons {or markers, pencils etc.} and color in the face and paws in the valentine dog printable. I went with a pink puppy but you can do whatever color you like!
  • Once done with the coloring step, trim out each section in the printable and set them aside. You will have ONE head and TWO paws to work with.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab all your heart shapes and the stapler.
  • Start layering them {biggest to smallest} and staple them all together to secure in place.
  • Now you are ready to staple the puppy face piece you made earlier, to the back of the entire heart piece, so it looks like she/he is peeking out from behind it {so it looks like the dog is holding the heart!}
  • Follow that up by stapling the puppy paws in place but on the front of the design. Again, it will look like the dog is holding the heart.
  • To finish off the Valentine dog craft, add the wiggle eyes so your puppy friend can see.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit before displaying proudly!
