Paper Plate Bear Cave Craft Idea

Wintertime is a great time for crafting with young children! There are so many fun ideas to keep them busy and creative.

Today, we’re sharing a super easy paper plate bear cave craft idea that is perfect for chilly days.

This hibernating bear craft project is simple enough that kids of all ages can participate, and the finished product looks adorable! Plus it goes along perfectly with the Bear Snores On book!

Paper Plate Bear Cave Craft Idea

This winter, we’re going to show you how to make you and your preschooler, how to recreate this bear cave craft idea from a paper plate!

You’ll only need a few supplies, and it’s perfect for when you need some indoor entertainment for your own little bear! Let’s get started!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Bear Printable – on our landing page
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • White Cotton Balls
  • School Glue
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – cut off a small section of your large paper plate to make the bottom of the bear cave lay flat.
  • Discard the small piece you just cut off.
  • Now go ahead and paint the outer rim of the paper plate piece completely brown, while painting the inside of it black.
  • Set aside the paper plate for now.
  • Next up – using scissors, trim out ONE bear shape from your printed printable.
  • Go ahead and glue that bear piece to the center of your painted paper plate.
  • The final step is to glue some cotton ball “snow” on the bottom of the “cave” to pull the theme together.
  • Now add anything else you like {it’s a fun way to customize it} before allowing it to dry completely and displaying proudly for all to see!
