Snowman Gnome Craft Idea

If you have been a long time follower of Glued To My Crafts, you may already know by now that I “truly” try to come up with super unique ideas for my readers. I’m typically not one to follow the crowds or even the trends. I like to be original with my ideas and inspire others from there 🙂

Sure everyone on the internet can share how to make a butterfly out of a paper plate BUT I really do strive to do more than that, when it comes to my kids craft tutorials. I want to be known for the “whoa – I haven’t seen that before” ideas and I hope I hit that on the nail, every time I hit publish. I have BIG goals and hope to elaborate even more on this in the year 2020 & on GTMC.

The designing part of this “gig” is actually the part I enjoy most these days! It’s so much fun to see the crazy ideas in my head actually come to life in my hands. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. You would be surprised to hear where I actually find most of my inspiration these days {which is a story for another day!} Even I surprise myself sometimes!

Anyways, before I get too off track from today’s crafty tutorial… I’m screaming from the rooftops that I’m super excited to finally share my vision of a snowman gnome out of popsicle sticks. It took awhile to get it just right and “I” truly believe it’s a first-seen-here craft idea. My biggest hope is you is that you see what I see in it. I’ve taken the basic jumbo popsicle stick triangle shape that I really enjoy building off and built a snowman that is disguised as a gnome. Clever, right?!

Anyways, long story short – I truly believe that children AND adults alike, will LOVE recreating their own winter gnome from craft sticks and showing it off proudly. Just like a real snowman – you can decorate him however you like, with whatever you have on hand!

So let’s grab our supplies, check out the tutorial below and make some adorable & completely customizable snowman gnomes together! Then display as is OR add some string to the back to turn them into unique ornaments and/or gift tags. Whatever you do – I hope you and your child have fun with it!

Happy crafting my friends!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your winter snowmen gnomes made from wood craft sticks with us on our Facebook page! I seriously can’t wait to see how you give them your own creative winter spin! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:

  • First things first – grab three popsicle sticks {three per snowman gnome} as well as the craft paint supplies.
  • Squirt your white craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Grab your paint brush and go ahead & paint the THREE popsicle sticks completely.
  • Next up – glue the three painted sticks together to look like a triangle with the school glue.
  • Set aside the triangle piece to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each snowman inspired gnome you want to make today.
  • While that is drying, grab all your paper sheets and scissors.
  • Cut a triangular shape, from the white cardstock paper, that will be placed within the popsicle stick design and be the body of the gnome.
  • Out of the remaining cardstock, you want to cut out a long beard, a hat, his stick arms, nose and anything else you can think of!
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Snowman Winter Gnomes – go ahead and glue all your paper pieces in place, with some school glue on the painted popsicle stick shape. The white triangle and stick arm paper pieces go on the back of the popsicle stick shape, while all the other pieces go on the front.
  • Then add other embellishments they see fit to complete the look.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
