Popsicle Stick Lumberjack Bear - Kid Craft

Lumberjack Bear Popsicle Stick Art Project

It all started with some plaid printed scrapbook paper in my craft stash.

From there, the juices flowed from my fingertips and I came up with this popsicle stick lumberjack bear craft idea.

When I first started my brainstorming, I envisioned something that kids {and adults} could make during the month of January, before we dive into the next big holiday.

As the title suggests, you just need some basic wood craft sticks, paper, paint and some glue. That’s it to create these woodland themed bear puppets within minutes!

These adorable bears dressed like lumberjacks are sure to WOW the ones who create them and the ones who get to admire them. Which one will you be? Hopefully we will encourage to join your child in the fun of making some adorable bears today!

Find all the details you need to know, in the full tutorial below! Then build some impressive lumberjack puppet friends together and extend the fun with a quick show step up in the living room. So much fun to be had – I’ll let you get to it!

As always – happy crafting my dear friends and don’t forget to share pictures of your finished craft stick lumberjack bear puppets with us on our Facebook page! I can’t wait to see how you give it your own spin!

Directions:

  • First get the glue gun hot and ready.
  • Assemble the base of your lumberjack friend by gluing THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence door {3 next to each other and the mini popsicle sticks across to secure in place.}
  • Allow it to dry completely. Repeat for each bear craft you want to make today.
  • Now grab your brown paint crayon.
  • Go ahead and paint the front side of your popsicle stick shape completely brown.
  • When done “painting” set aside the popsicle stick shape piece till later on.
  • Now grab all your sheets of paper and craft scissors.
  • Out of the plaid, cut out a large rectangle with a small triangle piece cut out, to make the lumberjack shirt for the bear. Use the black marker to draw on “buttons” on the shirt you just made.
  • Now go ahead and also cut out a small hat from the remaining plaid paper.
  • Out of the white paper, cut out some “fur” for the hat.
  • Out of the kraft colored paper, cut out a circle for the face of the bear, as well as two ears.
  • When ready, glue ALL the paper pieces in their designated spots, to the painted popsicle stick shape from earlier.
  • Finish it all off by gluing on the wiggle eyes, to the front, so the bear can see.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
  • Repeat the above steps for the remaining head shapes in the printable!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of your finished popsicle stick lumberjack bear creations to share with us! It’s your time to shine, so don’t be shy when it comes to showing them off! #gluedtomycrafts
