Popsicle Stick Bears In Sweaters - Kid Craft

Craft Stick Bear Puppets In Yarn Sweaters

Just like my “cats in sweaters” post from the other day, I’m honestly really not sure where I can pin-point the inspiration on this one. Let’s just say I’m already “ready” for the cool down here in Florida and I hope you bookmark this post for the upcoming winter season {it’s never too early to plan, my friends!} You could even maybe change up the color scheme and make them fit better for fall, if you like!

On that note, I sure do hope you see my vision for this “first seen here” Craft Stick Bears In Sweaters craft idea and are inspired to recreate a few with your child today. Wouldn’t these “bear-y” cute craft stick and yarn friends be great for some pretend puppet play this afternoon? You could even have an ugly sweater contest and really dig out the random craft embellishments!

So enough chit chat from me… I’m sure your mind is racing and you are ready to get to it. Go raid your stash, grab some popsicle sticks and some colorful yarn, so you can create your very own bears in sweaters puppets today! All the instructions can be found below and if you need help, please feel free to reach out to me!

Don’t forget – I wanna admire your creations so please be sure to snap a few pictures along the way and tag us on Facebook or use our special branded #gluedtomycrafts hashtag for us to see!

Happy crafting my friends!!! Hopefully your crafty plans are bear-tastic because of this amazing art project idea you found on Glued To My Crafts just now!

Directions:

  • First get the glue gun hot and ready.
  • Assemble the base of your bear friend by gluing THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence door {3 next to each other and the mini popsicle sticks across to secure in place.}
  • Allow it to dry completely. Repeat for each bear friend you want to make.
  • Now grab your craft yarn, the popsicle stick shape you just made and your craft scissors.
  • Take one end of your yarn and hot glue it to the back of your popsicle stick bear body shape.
  • Start wrapping the yarn SEVERAL times around the popsicle stick base, until you have the look you like.
  • When ready, cut the yarn and use the hot glue gun again, to secure the loose end to the back of the popsicle stick base.
  • Now grab your cardstock, marker and scissors.
  • Cut out several small oval shapes that will become the bear’s nose, ears, feet – whatever you think the craft needs.
  • Take the black Sharpie marker and draw on the mouth & some embellishments on his feet for some added dimension.
  • Now go ahead and glue ALL the paper pieces to the yarn wrapped popsicle stick shape from earlier.
  • Don’t forget to hot glue some wiggle eyes on so he can see.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.

PAIR YOUR FINISHED CRAFT WITH OUR —> Fork Painted Polar Bear

Popsicle Stick Polar Bears In Sweaters - Kid Craft

Customize It:

  • I personally loved the look of the “natural” popsicle sticks but please don’t feel limited by how I did my example pictures. You can easily pull out the white craft paint for this one and make a POLAR BEAR instead!! Just remember to leave ample time between the paint drying and you moving onto the yarn wrapping step.

We have the BEST kid craft tutorials on the internet {if I do say so myself!}

Just check out our Holiday Trucks, Christmas Fairy House and Polar Bear Card craft posts, that hundreds of people have been recreating this winter season! All of which are instant creativity at your fingerprints!
