Sunglasses Turned Snowman Ornament

Recycled Sunglasses Turned Snowman Ornament

Snowman Ornament From Sunglasses

Hi friends! I’m so glad you landed on today’s Christmas craft tutorial! I recently took an old pair of black, scratched up black sunglasses and turned them into an adorable Snowman Ornament within minutes!

It’s just a clever upcycled DIY I came up with AND if you are like us currently living in Florida, I thought it was fitting since we can’t exactly build a snowmen here! But in all honesty – I rather “build” this type of snowman, than be in the cold this time of year. LOL!

So anyways… long story short but if you have an extra pair of plastic sunglasses you no longer using {think about those glasses that are well beat up or a little out of style} then please keep on reading to see how I pulled it together!

Happy crafting, my friends!!! Don’t forget to share pictures if you decide to recreate your own snowman ornament made from upcycled sunglasses, with us on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram to see! I can’t wait to see how YOU make a snowman ornament out of old glasses this holiday season! #gluedtomycrafts

I love crafts that can be kept and used after the holidays, especially ones that can be kept in a special memory box. This is one of those types of craft ideas. It’s easy to make and better than throwing away old sunglasses.

SUPPLIES & DIRECTIONS:

  • Ready to learn how do you recreate this Sunglass Snowman Ornament? It’s simple! You will need your recycled plastic sunglasses with the lenses in {make sure you like the shape of it for your snowman} white/black/orange craft paint, paint brushes, scissors and some twine/ribbon for a scarf & easy hanging.
  • First step – take your sunglasses and paint the lenses on the outside {while still attached to the sunglasses} completely white. I used Tulip Fabric Puffy Paint for this step but I’m sure ANY type of craft paint would work. I just love the Tulip brand and the fact that I had a nice control tip when painting. This made it easy to NOT paint the frame of the sunglasses. Plus the Tulip brand allowed me to skip a couple layers of extra paint since it was a little thick {keep that in mind, because you MIGHT need more than one layer of white craft paint to get the glasses to really POP in color!}
  • Once done painting, set the painted sunglasses aside in an undisturbed area, to let the white paint dry completely.

When the white paint is dry, move on to the snowman embellishments. Use orange/black paint to draw on a face and buttons down the center. Again, I used the same Tulip brand puffy paint from earlier, for this step. You can also paint on other embellishments you see fit {or change up the colors!}

Finally, to finish the craft – add some pretty ribbon to the center of the sunglasses {on the nose piece} for a long, flowy scarf for the snowman.

Then tie some twine or ribbon to the sunglasses for easy hanging on the tree! That’s it, my friends!! I hope this QUICK upcycle craft tutorial inspired you! Remember – it’s never too easy to start planning those Christmas crafts!#gluedtomycrafts
