This easy kids craft is perfect for the winter season! Your child can make a snowman puppet out of craft foam and have some fun pretend play.

Craft Supplies:

Before you start, gather these materials. Most are inexpensive and easily accessible:

  • Wavy Wood Craft Sticks – 1 per craft
  • White Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • White Foam Sheet
  • Black Foam Sheet
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Glue Gun or Tacky Glue
  • Brown Raffia Ribbon

Directions:

Now that you have everything ready, it’s time to craft!

  • Start by squirting some white craft paint onto a paper plate.
  • Using a foam paintbrush, completely coat ONE side of your wavy craft stick with the white paint. Set it aside to dry fully.
  • While the paint dries, gather your craft foam sheets, colored cardstock, and scissors.
  • Begin by cutting out a small circle from the white craft foam for the snowman’s head. Cut a hat shape from the black craft foam.
  • Next, cut out a scarf and a small embellishment for the hat using the colored cardstock.
  • Take your black and orange Sharpie markers and draw a snowman face on the white craft foam head. Add a triangular orange carrot nose along with dotted black eyes and a smile.
  • On the painted wavy craft stick, use the markers to draw buttons for the snowman’s body.
  • Once all the pieces are ready, it’s time to assemble! Heat up your glue gun and start putting it all together.
  • Glue the snowman’s circular face to one end of the painted wavy craft stick. Attach the black hat on top of the head and glue the scarf just below it.
  • For arms, cut a long piece of brown raffia ribbon, then wrap and tie it around the center of the stick.
  • Add any extra embellishments you like—stickers, glitter, or anything to give your puppet a personal touch!
  • Once complete, proudly display your Craft Foam Snowman Puppet or use it for playtime fun.
  • Don’t forget to share your finished creation with us on social media using #gluedtomycrafts—we’d love to see what you’ve made!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
