MATERIALS:

  • To complete this handmade penguin ornament tutorial, all you need is a medium sized flat wood slice piece {I found mine at Hobby Lobby} some black and white craft paint, two paint brushes, orange Tulip Puffy Paint, googly eyes, twine, scissors and a hot glue gun.

DIRECTIONS:

  • First things first – make sure you have a good working area. I suggest placing your wood slice on a large paper plate to protect your work surface.
  • Squirt your black and white craft paint on another paper plate.
  • Next up, using your paint brushes, paint the outer rim of the wood slice black, while painting the inner portion white.
  • Follow that up by adding on the legs and nose with the orange puffy paint.
  • Finally – hot glue the wiggle eyes so your cute penguin can see.
  • And that’s it! That’s literally THREE painting steps and a little bit of gluing.
  • You will then set it aside to let it dry completely before you hot glue some twine or a piece ribbon to the back for easy hanging.
  • Then hang it on the tree for everyone to admire!  It’s easy peasy – just how we LOVE it on Glued To My Crafts!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
