Are you looking to engage your kids this holiday season? Check out this fun and easy craft idea for kids! Using just paper and handprints, you can make beautiful penguin cards for the winter season!

Paper & Handprint Penguin Cards - Kid Craft

This Handprint Penguin Card is the perfect winter activity! It’s an adorable handmade card for holidays, birthdays, or just to say “I’m thinking of you.” With its personal touch, it’s a keepsake any recipient will treasure. Plus, it’s easy enough that kids of all ages can enjoy making it.

Here’s how you create your very own handprint penguin masterpiece!

Craft Supplies:

  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • White Chalk/Pencil
  • Scissors
  • School Glue
  • Round Cotton Pad
  • Cardstock Card Front
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – simply trace your child’s hand {either left or right} on some simple black cardstock. I recommend using a piece of white chalk for this step.
  • Now go ahead and trim out the traced out shape with some basic paper craft scissors.
  • Add a white circular cotton pad to the center of the newly cut-out handprint for the penguin’s belly.
  • Now add other penguin embellishments {like a cardstock triangle nose and wiggle eyes} to bring him to life!
  • Then attach the finished penguin handprint to a premade cardstock card front for easy gifting.
  • Finally, write a short message inside the card and mail away! It’s simply easy peasy – just how we like it on Glued To My Crafts!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
