Bear Snores On Puppet Craft

I call this crafty tutorial our Paper Bag Sleeping Bear and it’s themed around the charming book Bear Snores On.

In the bear themed children’s book, several different animals find their way out of the bitter cold and into Bear’s cave to warm up. After trying several different ways to wake him, Bear just snores on. You’ll have to read the book to see what happens when he finally does wake up and sees his cave full of uninvited guests—all of them having a party without him!

So enough chit chat from me! Let’s grab our supplies, find the full tutorial below {along with a free printable!} for the paper bag brown bear craft idea and get to work on bringing him to life! No snoring on the job please!

Happy crafting and creating your sleeping brown bear made from a paper bag! #gluedtomycrafts

Paper Bag Sleeping Bear Puppet

This is a great paper bag brown bear story time kids craft idea that will keep them entertained for hours.

It’s simple to make and you only need a few basic supplies like brown lunch sacks, brown craft paint, and a plastic fork. Let the fun begin!

Craft Supplies:

  • Bear Printable – on our landing page
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Lunch Bag
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Plastic Fork
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first! If you haven’t already – be sure to grab the free file {listed above} and print it out on a single sheet of LIGHT BROWN cardstock paper.
  • Next grab your scissors and trim out ONE of the head shapes. Set aside the remaining head piece.
  • Next up – squirt a small amount of brown craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Lay the brown paper bag on a flat surface, with the flap facing up.
  • You are going to want to paint the larger side {not the flap} with the plastic fork to give the bag a “fur” texture. You can add as much or as little as you like!
  • At this point in time you can sprinkle on some gold loose craft glitter, on top of the wet paint, for even more texture for it’s fur.
  • When you are done painting, it’s time for the final step! Go ahead and glue the decorated head cutout piece from earlier, to the empty flap piece of the paper bag.
  • Finish it up by adding any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then let your finished craft dry completely before you display the finished Paper Bag Bear craft piece proudly or play with it like a puppet.
