Handprint Carrot Gnome Craft Idea For Spring

It’s so simple to make! My favorite part is the handprint beard that looks like greenery on top of a carrot!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First things first – we are going to make the bearded greenery! Grab your craft paint, paint brush, white paper and small paper plate.
  • Squirt some green craft paint on the paper plate and dip the brush in it.
  • Working quickly, one by one, paint BOTH of your child’s hands and press them down on the white cardstock paper. You will want to leave some room between them both {you might need a second sheet of paper if both don’t fit!}
  • When done making the handprints, set aside the paper to let the prints dry completely.
  • While those dry, use baby wipes and a quick trip to the sink to clean off excess paint from hands.
  • When the handprints are dry enough, grab the scissors.
  • Trim out BOTH handprints designs from the paper.
  • Discard excess paper and set aside the cutouts.
  • Next grab your orange cardstock paper.
  • Trim out a large triangular hat out of it.
  • Now staple your paper carrot hat piece to the TWO green “beard” handprint cutouts from earlier. You want the handprints going outward from the hat, like greenery.
  • Finally, cut out a small oval nose from the brown cardstock paper and staple that in the center of everything.
  • To finish off your Handprint Carrot Gnome kid craft idea – use the Sharpie marker to give the carrot hat some dimension by drawing on a few squiggles here & there.
  • Go ahead and add other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your new piece proudly!!!

OPTIONAL STEP —> for an alternative of using paint for the beard {and for a less messy option!} you create make TWO paper handprint cutouts from green cardstock paper and use those in your handprint veggie gnome craft instead!
