Since our Christmas Fairy House post was so popular last year {it went viral on Pinterest AND Facebook} I’m hoping to hit the jackpot AGAIN and share a spring themed version of that craft, that everyone will love just as much, as well!

With today’s paper mushroom fairy house themed tutorial, you are going to take a plain paper plate and our free printables {yes there are TWO this time!} & make it into a cozy safe-haven for some of your new friends this spring season.

The nice thing about this DIY is that YOU can customize your mushroom fairy homes by adding your own creative touches like different craft mediums, stickers and glitter etc. – all of which you probably already have in your craft stash right now {so no need to get super stressed that you need anything “frilly” to make it happen!}

So on that note… you and your child are going to LOVE making this mushroom inspired paper piece together. Find the full tutorial and free printable templates below! Remember – at Glued To My Crafts we set up the framework for you but we want YOU can make it however you like. So please don’t feel restricted by our “tutorial” or even provided printables. We just hope to inspire you to make your own magical fairy house today!

Happy crafting, my friends!!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your finished paper plate fairy house creations with us on our Facebook page, so we can admire it from a far! I can’t wait to see what you “build” for your fairy friend today! #gluedtomycrafts

Paper Plate Mushroom Fairy House - Kid Craft Idea Paper Plate Fairy Mushroom House - Kid Craft Idea

This easy kid craft is perfect for the spring season! With just a few simple materials, you can create a mushroom fairy house that any little fairy would love to come home to.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate {one plate per fairy house craft}
  • FREE Printables {page 1 roof top freebie, page 2 bottom piece freebie}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Color Printer
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Markers, Crayons or Colored Pencils
  • School Glue or Glue Stick
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • optional materials – spring themed stickers, craft paint, glitter, rhinestones etc.

You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link!

Directions:

  • First things first – cut off a small section of your large paper plate to make the bottom of the fairy house be flat.
  • Discard the small piece you just cut off.
  • Now grab and print the FREE fairy house templates above.
  • Print out EACH FILE in color on white cardstock. You only need to print one of each printable per craft you are making. You will have ONE that is the mushroom roof top and the other is the fairy embellishments. Print as many as you like!
  • Using scissors, trim out each section in the printables you just printed. You will have a few windows, a door, flowers and of course – the large mushroom roof.
  • Bonus tip – use markers, crayons or color pencils to color in the blank flowers in the printable, to make them custom to you!
  • Now decide which windows you are going to use for your craft {you only need two windows.} There are several different versions of fairies in windows. Any combination of them is great for the craft! You can also use the blank windows and either add your child’s pictures or have them hand-draw something inside.
  • Now it’s time to start assembling your mushroom fairy house.
  • Go ahead and glue/staple all your paper embellishments in place on the paper plate. The biggest piece and where I suggest you start is stapling the mushroom roof onto the paper plate.
  • Now add anything else you like for that custom look {like some spring themed stickers or glitter!} before displaying proudly!
  • And that’s it! Admire your hard work because YOU did a great job!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of the finished mushroom house so you can share them with us on your social media sites!
  • PAIR YOUR FINISHED CRAFT WITH —> Cherry Blossom Popcorn Tree

Customize It:

  • Don’t have a printer to take advantage of our free printable? You can ALWAYS hand-drawn and cut out a mushroom roof top & windows from basic cardstock paper. In fact – I highly encourage it so those creative juices really flow onto the craft!
