This easy kid craft is perfect for the spring season! With just a few simple materials, you can create a fairy mushroom house that any little creature would love to come home to.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Mushroom House Printables – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Markers, Crayons or Colored Pencils
  • Adhesive
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First things first – cut off a small section of your large paper plate to make the bottom of the fairy house be flat.
  • Discard the small piece you just cut off.
  • Now grab and print the FREE fairy house templates above.
  • Print out EACH FILE in color on white cardstock. You only need to print one of each printable per craft you are making. You will have ONE that is the mushroom roof top and the other is the fairy embellishments. Print as many as you like!
  • Using scissors, trim out each section in the printables you just printed. You will have a few windows, a door, flowers and of course – the large mushroom roof.
  • Bonus tip – use markers, crayons or color pencils to color in the blank flowers in the printable, to make them custom to you!
  • Now decide which windows you are going to use for your craft {you only need two windows.} There are several different versions of fairies in windows. Any combination of them is great for the craft! You can also use the blank windows and either add your child’s pictures or have them hand-draw something inside.
  • Now it’s time to start assembling your mushroom fairy house.
  • Go ahead and glue/staple all your paper embellishments in place on the paper plate. The biggest piece and where I suggest you start is stapling the mushroom roof onto the paper plate.
  • Now add anything else you like for that custom look {like some spring themed stickers or glitter!} before displaying proudly!
  • And that’s it! Admire your hard work because YOU did a great job!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of the finished mushroom house so you can share them with us on your social media sites!

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
