Craft Supplies:
- FREE GNOME OF THE BRAVE KEEPSAKE PRINTABLE ON BOX.COM
- Color Printer
- Red or Blue Cardstock Paper
- White Cardstock Paper {two sheets!}
- Kraft Colored Cardstock
- Patriotic Patterned Scrapbook Paper {think shades of blue, red and silver}
- Pencil or Pen
- Craft Scissors
- Glue Stick, Tape Runner or Handheld Stapler
- optional supplies – star or flag sticker embellishments, glitter, sequins etc.
Directions:
- First things first, if you haven’t already, grab our free “gnome matter what” file {listed above in the supply list} and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. One print will allow you to do this craft THREE times.
- Go ahead and trim out ONE of the rectangle boxes from the print. Set that aside.
- Next up – trace your child’s hand {and hand!} one time on another piece of white cardstock paper.
- When done tracing, trim out the design. This will be the beard for your patriotic gnome.
- Set it aside.
- Now grab your patterned scrapbook paper.
- Cut out a large triangle hat for your gnome.
- Finally – cut out a small oval nose shape from the kraft colored cardstock.
- Now you are ready to assemble it all together.
- Start off my gluing down the white handprint cutout onto the COLORED cardstock paper {this one should have been left out from any cutting.} You want the fingertips facing downward on the paper.
- Follow up that step by gluing down {securing} the hat on the palm of the handprint cutout.
- Then glue down the oval nose to complete the look of a gnome.
- To finish off your Paper Patriotic Gnome Keepsake, add the rectangle cutout with the “land of the free and GNOME of the brave” saying, right underneath the beard design.
- Then add any other embellishments you see fit, to give it that patriotic spin! I add stars on my paper but you can add ANYTHING you like!
- Then display your 4th of July handprint paper piece proudly for ALL to see!!

Some Last Notes:
- If you don’t have a printer to take advantage of our free file, no worries! You can always hand-write the words on paper or use scrapbook letter stickers instead.
- Instead of paper for the hats and handprint beards, you can also use craft felt or fabric scraps for a fun twist on the craft. Just use thick tacky glue or a stapler to attach to the cardstock.
- Don’t want to do paper handprint cutouts or maybe your child’s hand is too big? No worries! You can also use WHITE paper doilies for the beard. Similar to our gnome paper doily cards we shared a few years back.
