Paper Patriotic Shooting Star - Kid Craft Idea

Get creative for the 4th of July! Let your patriotic spirit shine like a shooting star in this fun and easy crafting project.

Craft Supplies:

  • Star Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Crayons or Markers
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Stapler
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first -print out the FREE printable listed above, on one sheet of white cardstock. You only need one star printable per craft.
  • Have children decorate the inside of their star printable however they like. I highly encourage the use of red and blue colors though!
  • Once done, use scissors to trim out the decorated star shape.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab your red and blue cardstock & the scissors again.
  • Cut out a few long stripes for the “firework” aspect of the craft. For mine, I did five stripes of paper per star.
  • Use your hands to fold each strip into an accordion design.
  • Now grab the stapler and all your folded paper pieces, along with the decorated star.
  • Staple the shooting star “beams” to the back of the star shape.
  • Finally – we are going to give our star some personality. Glue on the wiggle eyes and draw on a face.
  • And that’s it! Add other embellishments you see fit to your Paper Patriotic Shooting Star before displaying it proudly for all to see!
  • Don’t forget to share pictures of your finished shooting star creations with us! #gluedtomycrafts
