Paint Splat New Year's Eve City Skyline

New Year’s Eve Paint Splatter City Skyline

The year is coming to a close on Glued To My Crafts and I’m wrapping up things up, by sharing a craft tutorial using my NEW favorite art technique that took over our blog this year! I’ve combined my favorite “paint splat” technique with a silhouette shadow of a simple city skyline in the night of New Year’s Eve!

This DIY idea mimics the skyline YOU might see as you watch the fireworks on New Year’s Eve. I simply LOVE how every paint splat firework art project piece will be different – just like the many views for everyone that night!

So what are you waiting for my dear friends?! Make this cool firework scene with just some simple cardstock, craft paint and a little crafty imagination. You can even mimic it against what you actually see around your area at night. Maybe even make it a “craft night party” and see what everyone comes up with!

Super simple to make and I hope it inspires YOU!

Happy crafting, my friends!! Don’t forget to give us a FOLLOW on Facebook so you never miss a new tutorial from us in the new year! #gluedtomycrafts

Paint Splat New Year's Eve City Skyline

A nighttime scene come to life! This glittery, fun and easy paint splatter city skyline silhouette craft is a great idea for kids who love the night time.

Craft Supplies:

  • Gray/Black Cardstock Paper
  • Tulip Puffy Paint
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Markers or Crayons
  • Baby Wipes
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • Please make sure you have a good working area that can get dirty because paint may squeeze out of the sides of this craft!!!
  • First fold your black {or other dark colored} cardstock paper in half {one paper per New Year’s Eve city skyline craft}
  • Unfold and squirt some paint {two-three colors} on one side of the paper  {I like the Tulip Puffy Paint for this particular step since it’s in a nice controlled squirt bottle} Be sure to keep the paint inside the paper and not place too much down or the paper will get too wet.
  • Once the paint is down, go ahead and fold/squish your paper together again.
  • Be sure to rub your hand all over the folded piece, so the paint will cover your the inside nicely {paint WILL more than likely squeeze out the sides, so be sure to pay attention to that and clean up with baby wipes!}
  • Now carefully unfold your piece to reveal your colorful nighttime firework filled sky design inside. Add glitter on top of the wet paint, if desired before the paint dries completely. Set it aside.
  • Next grab your gray cardstock and scissors. Cut out a skyline design {just squares and rectangles.}
  • Use the black Sharpie marker, to draw one some windows/doors on the various buildings you just made.
  • To finish the Paint Splat Firework Skyline craft, staple your building scene to the top of the paint splat piece.  Add other embellishments you see fit. Then display proudly!!!
