On that note, our latest handprint keepsake kid craft idea is super perfect to make with your young child, in honor of the BIG midnight event and have a sweet handmade piece to give to others, to enjoy for years to come!

With the simple steps and the free 2026 printable I have provided below, you can make SEVERAL paper New Year’s keepsakes with your child, in just a matter of few minutes, with little to no hassle. Just download, print and then add their choice of color handprint in the center to complete the craft.

Then once the paper 2026 keepsake pieces are completely dry, you can add a few stickers embellishments, have children sign their name in the provided space and then either gift the finished piece as is or frame it in a cheap Dollar Tree frame, so the lucky receiver can show it off in their home all year long. Maybe it will even bring them some luck for the new year!

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a memorable keepsake! Create a handprint craft with your child to cherish for years to come!

Craft Supplies:

  • UPDATED 2026 Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint {any color you like!}
  • Large Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First grab the 2026 keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided New Year’s Eve file on a single sheet of white cardstock. You only need ONE print per craft.
  • Next grab your choice of color in craft paint, as well as your foam paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick one of your child’s hands {left or right – doesn’t matter!}
  • Paint the palm and fingers of your child’s hand completely and press it down in the center of the printable, between the THREE numbers. This will complete the 2022 look.
  • Now carefully lift up your child’s hand from the printable and clean off the excess paint with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • Add other embellishments to give your New Year’s themed keepsake piece a personalized look.
  • Don’t forget to have your child fill in the blank spot with their name and age!
