Let the party begin! Get creative with your kids and make fun popsicle stick party hats that’ll get everyone in a celebratory mood.

Craft Supplies:

Before you start, gather all the supplies needed for this craft. You probably have many of these items at home, but if not, they are readily available at craft stores or even dollar stores.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Pencil or Marker
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glitter Glue, Tinsel Garland, Large Pom Poms etc.

Directions:

Follow these simple instructions to make your popsicle stick party hats. Feel free to encourage kids to add their creative touch every step of the way!

  • Start by gathering three jumbo popsicle sticks and gluing them together to form a simple triangle shape.
  • Set the triangle aside and allow it to dry completely.
  • Repeat this step for every party hat you’d like to create.
  • Once the popsicle stick triangle is sturdy, choose a craft paint color and pour some onto a paper plate.
  • Paint your popsicle stick triangle in your favorite design or color scheme.
  • Let the paint dry completely before moving on to the next step.
  • Now, grab your pencil, scissors, and a sheet of scrapbook paper.
  • Trace the triangle shape of your popsicle stick design onto the scrapbook paper.
  • Cut out the traced shape and trim it slightly so it fits neatly inside the popsicle stick triangle.
  • To assemble your glue the scrapbook paper cutout to the back of your painted popsicle stick triangle. Popsicle Stick Party Hat,
  • Add the final festive touches! Use glitter glue, pom-poms, tinsel, or any decorations you love to give your party hat a fun, celebratory vibe. My version includes glitter pom-poms and tinsel, but feel free to get creative and make it your own!
  • Once all your decorations are glued down, set your craft aside to dry completely.
  • When finished, proudly display your festive party hats and don’t forget to share photos of your creations on social media using #gluedtomycrafts!

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
