It all started when I stumbled upon some tiny flag toothpicks at Michaels recently. They weren’t even in a “patriotic” section. They were in the cake decorating department. Super random, right?

Anyways… since I’ve been on a popsicle stick truck sharing kick lately on Glued To My Crafts, it only seemed fitting that we throw a patriotic version into the archives!

With today’s tutorial, we now have a Christmas, Valentine, St. Patty’s, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and a plain ole farm truck version. GEEZ! That’s a whole lot of truck kid craft ideas – one for EVERY month. I’m telling you – once those creative juices flow in my head, there is no stopping me!

So on that note, I hope there is NO STOPPING YOU from recreating this latest and greatest idea with your child today. Perfect for ANY patriotic holiday you have in mind! I’m even thinking this would be great for a military child event or something along that long… I’ll let you brainstorm and get to it!

Popsicle Stick Patriotic Truck – 4th of July Kid Craft Idea

Looking for an easy, patriotic craft activity to do with the kids? Learn how to make a popsicle stick patriotic truck in just a few simple steps!

Craft Supplies:

Round up all your supplies before you begin. Trust us, there’s nothing worse than hunting for scissors mid-glitter explosion.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks – 2 per craft
  • Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • School Glue
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Small USA Flag Toothpicks
  • Washi Tape
  • Sharpie Markers

Directions:

A clean, roomy workspace is a must! Clear off the clutter and give yourself plenty of elbow room for your creative magic.

  • First grab THREE jumbo popsicle sticks, TWO mini sized ones and the school glue for your craft {the popsicle stick amounts are per truck you are going to make}
  • Lay the three large popsicle sticks next to each other, one by one, on a flat surface.
  • Now grab your other two mini one and glue them the other direction to create a fence.
  • Set aside to let it dry a bit.
  • Repeat for each truck you want to make.
  • While those are drying, grab all your cardstock paper.
  • Cut out embellishments for your truck {like wheels, the window of the truck, the cab.}
  • Set all these aside when done.
  • Once the popsicle stick shape is dry enough, go ahead and paint it with your craft paint.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Patriotic Farm Truck, glue the cardstock pieces you made in place, as well as using a small piece of washi tape to attach the toothpick flag to the back of the truck.
  • Also go ahead and use Sharpie markers to draw a “driver” in the window of your truck.
  • When it’s all done and dry, display it or play with proudly!
