Are you looking for a fun craft that your kids can do to celebrate patriotic holidays? Check out this step-by-step tutorial on how to make a Patriotic Gnome using popsicle sticks!

Craft Supplies:

Before you begin, make sure you have these supplies on hand:

  • Jumbo Wood Sticks – 3 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Whether you’re a crafting pro or a beginner, this step-by-step guide will walk you through creating your 4th of July patriotic gnome.

  • Let the fun begin! Start by grabbing three popsicle sticks per patriotic gnome, along with your choice of craft paint.
  • Squeeze some paint onto a paper plate.
  • Using a paintbrush, completely coat all three popsicle sticks in your chosen color.
  • Once painted, arrange the sticks into a triangle shape and glue them together with school glue.
  • Set the triangle aside to dry completely. Repeat this process for each Uncle Sam-inspired gnome you plan to create.
  • While the triangle dries, gather your patterned scrapbook paper and cardstock.
  • Cut a large triangular piece from the patriotic scrapbook paper—this will form the body of your gnome, fitting neatly inside the popsicle stick triangle.
  • From the cardstock, cut out additional pieces: a long white beard, a triangle-shaped hat, an oval nose, and any other details you’d like to add.
  • To assemble your start by gluing the scrapbook paper triangle to the back of the painted popsicle stick frame. Then, attach the beard, hat, nose, and other cardstock details to the front. Popsicle Stick Patriotic Gnome,
  • Add finishing touches, like flag stickers on the hat, to enhance the design.
  • Once you’re happy with your creation, let it dry completely before proudly displaying your patriotic gnome!
