Paper Bag Uncle Sam Gnome - Kid Craft Idea

Make your Fourth of July celebrations extra special with this fun paper bag Uncle Sam Gnome craft idea for kids. Perfect way to get creative and have some family fun!

Craft Supplies:

  • Brown Paper Bag
  • Dark Blue Craft Paint
  • Skin Tone Craft Paint
  • Pencil
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Kraft Cardstock Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Dark Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • School Glue or Glue Stick
  • White Star Stickers

Directions:

  • First things first – lay the paper bag on a flat surface, with the bottom flap facing you. Just envision that the smaller rectangle area is the face and the larger portion is his body.
  • Now grab your skin tone paint color and paint the smaller square completely, for his face.
  • Follow that up by painting the remaining portion completely blue for his shirt.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now grab your white cardstock paper, as well as a pencil.
  • Pick a hand {any hand} and lay it flat on the paper.
  • Use a pencil to trace around the hand.
  • Lift up your hand and take your scissors to trim out the newly made traced design.
  • This is now the gnome’s beard.
  • Next up – cut out a small oval for the nose and a rectangular hat from the remaining pieces of cardstock paper you have.
  • Now we are ready to finish up the Uncle Sam lunch sack puppet craft. Grab your painted paper bag, the school glue and all your paper cutouts.
  • Go ahead and start off by gluing the handprint beard in place, right on the fold of the paper bag.
  • Follow that up with the nose on top of that and then build from there.
  • To finish it off, add some white star stickers on the hat to make him stand out from the crowd.
  • And that’s it on this Paper Bag Uncle Sam Gnome craft! Go ahead and add any other embellishments before you display him proudly for all to see!
  • BTW – you can easily stick your hand inside the decorated brown paper bag to make it into a puppet!
