It’s no secret. Deployments aren’t easy on kids. So because of that, I came up with this “In Case You Need Some Kisses From Me” gift tag printable and I hope it comes in handy for you today!
Kisses From Me Gift Idea
If you are new around here, we are a military family. Air Force to be exact.
Recently my husband left for a short deployment overseas and although it never gets easier when he leaves, I do try to do things that make the “blow” a little softer around here for my son & I.
I think the hardest hit person in our household is probably my son. He’s a true daddy’s boy. Although I know he loves me VERY much, there’s something about a daddy’s touch that just goes farther in life…
So learning from past deployments and TDYs my husband has gone on, I already know “some days” are going to be rougher than others. Because of that, I decided to come up with this “In Case You Need Some Kisses From Me” chocolate jar idea.
Originally, when I was brainstorming ideas, I was going to do a countdown type thing with Hershey Kisses {a daily night kiss from daddy.} But after thinking hard on it, I then decided to nix the idea because I kinda figured it would get old quickly with lil man and just become “too much.”
Yes, it would have been just be ONE chocolate kiss a day but considering it’s going to be nearly three months of that, I could easily see the “special-ness” rubbing off super fast and he would just expect candy every day, just because. To each their own though – maybe you like that idea better! 🙂
Anyways – that’s when I came up with today’s “In Case You Need Some Kisses” chocolate gift idea and printable.
The overall thought behind it, is when you have a rough day or just a bad moment, you grab a “kiss” from the jar and eat it like a “chill pill.”
My overall goal is to give him some comfort, tie in my husband even though he’s away and hopefully while our son is opening that delicious Hershey Kiss, we also get those lips moving on what’s really going on.

KISSES FOR YOU PRINTABLE:
- If you would like to make something similar for your child or maybe your loved one, you can score the FREE PRINTABLE located on box.com to take advantage of it.
- Just download the file, print it in color on white cardstock, trim out each section with scissors and use it in your personal needs {I did four gift tags on the printable, so you can pass on the love to more than one person today!}
- I left the wording and design pretty neutral, so you can use it in multiple ways. Don’t feel obligated to use it for a deployment or with a child either. We all could use a little pick me up these days!
HOW TO USE IT:
- For ours, I simply attached one of my gift tags in the printable to a large mason jar with some washi tape but you could also hole punch a hole in one corner, to attach it with string, to the jar.
- Then I filled up the glass container to the rim with plain Hershey kisses. That’s it! It took maybe 10 minutes tops to complete!
- If you don’t have a large mason jar, don’t fret though! A large ziplock baggie or even a candy dish filled with Hershey Kisses would work too. Just turn our gift tag into a simple card instead and pair with either for easy gifting.
