Popsicle Stick Farm Trucks - Kid Craft

Get your kids in the farm spirit with this fun popsicle stick farm trucks craft! It’s perfect for a rainy day activity.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • School Glue
  • Ink Pads
  • Baby Wipes
  • Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First grab FOUR jumbo popsicle sticks, TWO mini sized ones and the school glue {the popsicle stick amounts are per truck you want to make!}
  • Lay the FOUR large popsicle sticks next to each other, one by one, on a flat surface.
  • Now grab your other two mini popsicle sticks and glue them the other direction to create a fence piece. Set aside to let it dry a bit.
  • Once the popsicle stick shape is dry enough, go ahead and paint it completely with your desired choice of color craft paint. Set it aside again to let it dry.
  • Repeat for each truck.
  • While that is drying, grab all your cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out embellishments for your farm truck {wheels, a light, the cab of the truck, a window etc.} Set all these aside when done.
  • Now grab another piece of white cardstock and your desired color of ink pad.
  • Press your thumb on the ink pad, then on the paper, several times to make your “fruit” or “veggie” pile. Repeat and use a baby wipe for easy cleanup of your thumb.
  • Once done, use the Sharpie marker to draw on embellishments on the thumbprints you just made.
  • Finally, trim around the prints with the scissors.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Farm Trucks, glue the cardstock pieces you made {including the decorated thumbprint pile in the back of the truck!} in place as well as any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter, etc.}
  • Also go ahead and use Sharpie markers to draw a stick-figure “farmer” in the window of your truck.
  • When it’s all done and dry, display it or play with proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
