Popsicle Stick Turtle

This kids craft idea is inspired by one of our favorite children’s book authors, Eric Carle. Follow along with the simple tutorial to create your own popsicle stick turtle masterpiece!

Tissue Paper & Craft Stick Turtle

Today we are sharing this popsicle stick turtle idea and it’s another kid friendly craft idea that is made from some of my favorite craft supplies!

So what are you waiting for? Don’t be slow on this one. Let’s grab our craft supplies and get to work on making our own one of kind popsicle stick tortoise that is perfect for story time AND a boredom buster as well! You can find the FULL tutorial below!!!

Popsicle Stick Turtle - Kid Craft Idea

It’s a great way to get creative and have some fun with your child. Plus, it doubles as an art project idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
  • Green Tissue Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • Black Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First assemble the base of your tortoise by gluing your popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {7 next to each and two across}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now go ahead and squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Next have your child paint the front of their popsicle stick fence completely green.
  • Once done, tear a few pieces of brown & green tissue paper and have children glue them on the “shell” of the tortoise.
  • Now grab your cardstock and cut out other features to give the turtle life {think legs, head etc}
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Turtle craft, glue your cardstock pieces in place and add on the eyes & mouth.
  • Follow that up by adding other embellishments you see fit and displaying it proudly for all to see!!!
