This craft idea takes inexpensive popsicle sticks and uses them in creative ways to make adorable magnets that will look great on the fridge or any magnetic surface.

Craft Supplies:

Gathering your supplies is half the fun! Here’s everything you’ll need to create these sweet popsicle stick mama bear magnets:

  • Mini Popsicle Sticks {7 per craft}
  • Low-Temp Hot Glue Gun
  • Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Small Wiggle Eyes {2 per craft}
  • Small Circular Magnets

Directions:

  • First get the glue gun hot and ready!
  • Grab your SEVEN mini popsicle sticks.
  • Assemble the base of your mama bear by gluing your mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {five next to each other and two across.}
  • Repeat for each mama bear magnet you want to make today.
  • Next have children paint the front of their popsicle stick shape completely. Simply squirt some craft paint on the paper plate and hand over the paint brush.
  • When they are done painting, set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now grab the kraft colored cardstock paper and scissors.
  • Cut out a small, circular nose shape for the center of the craft and two half circle ear pieces for the back.
  • When ready, hot glue those paper pieces, in their designated spots, to the painted popsicle stick shape, along with the wiggle eyes.
  • Use the black Sharpie marker to draw on a smile on the nose piece.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Mama Bear craft, hot glue a small magnet to the back of your finished, decorated piece.
  • At this point in time you can add other small embellishments like a small bow, glitter, stickers etc. to tie the mama bear theme together.
  • When done completely with the craft, set it aside to allow it to dry completely before displaying and/or gifting away proudly!!!
  • One last step – don’t forget to share pictures of your completed craft, with us, on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts

Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
