Paper Plate Recycled Lid Monster Craft

Paper Plate Monster Craft For Kids

If you are like me, you have a tendency to hoard things that you “might” need in the future for “said” crafts. Apparently for me, that meant keeping EVERY single colored lid off those food pouches for kids. I hate to admit it but I have a huge bag of maybe 100+ plus that I’ve been keeping for awhile now.

Well – this weekend was the perfect excuse to either get rid of them OR craft with them. And guess what we did? Crafted with them – of course!

So today I present to YOU our eyeball monster craft idea. Those plastic lids I’ve been keeping on tap for awhile now, sure came in handy for the wacky eyes and it was the perfect excuse to use some recycled materials for our craft time!!! Hope it inspires YOU too!

Find all the crafty details for this Paper Plate Recycled Lid Monster tutorial below! Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share picture so your finished monster craft pieces with us on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts

Paper Plate Recycled Lid Monster Craft

Great for any age, this monster craft tutorial is perfect for a rainy day activity!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Tissue Paper
  • Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Recycled Pouch Lids
  • Large Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First cut your paper plate in half. You can either make TWO monsters or set one half aside for another day.
  • Next grab your tissue paper and cut it into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills}
  • Take your paper plate half and put a good amount of glue all over it.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate is completely covered.
  • While they are working on that, cut out some facial features for the monster from the cardstock. Think mouth, teeth, ears, antennas, hair etc {whatever your child likes!}
  • At this point in time, you should also glue a wiggle eye to the center of your recycled lids.
  • To finish off the monster kid craft – staple/glue the cardstock pieces in their designated spots on the paper plate, as well as the recycled lid eyes.
  • Then display proudly! {or add other embellishments to really make it your own!}

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
