Recycled Materials - Pretend Play Microphone For Kids

Microphone Pretend Play Craft Idea For Kids

My son is REALLY BIG into music right now. Pretty much everything that he touches is a drum and he’s constantly dancing around, making a beat, to his own tune. It’s actually quite cute to watch him.

Because of this, I recently decided to make him a little something to keep him busy – aka entertained for a few minutes while I tried to get some work in for Glued To My Crafts.

I wanted to keep whatever I made as cheap as possible AND with little-to-no steps. After all – I was trying to get back to work since I’ve lost my previous alone time since school has been out for the summer 😉

So if you guessed, that is how I came about making this pretend play microphone. I used recycled materials in our home so it literally cost me nothing but a few minutes of my time.

If this is something you would like to make for your child today, keep scrolling below for a super quick tutorial. Then, when you make your own, come share pictures of it on our Facebook page so we can admire what you did! Happy crafting {and making sweet music with your child!} my dear friends! #gluedtomycrafts

TO MAKE YOUR OWN MICROPHONE:

  • All it is a large clean paper towel roll, cut down a bit with scissors and then I hot-glued a tin foil wrapped styrofoam ball one end.
  • Then I covered the paper roll with gray cardstock {for a nicer look} and we had a microphone within minutes!
  • The last step was the drawn on “buttons” on one side, with a Sharpie marker.
  • BAM – five minutes of entertainment and the future lead singer of a band!
  • Although I didn’t get much silence after making it and handing it over {I should have known this!} it was worth creating, since his imagination is going wild with his new instrument.
  • Hopefully you are inspired to make it too! Don’t forget that old coffee cans make for awesome drums too and rubber bands on an empty Kleenex box is a great guitar too!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
