SUPER EASY Paper Plate Tiger - Kid Craft Idea

Paper Plate & Tissue Paper Tiger

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a book themed post on the Glued To My Crafts blog, so today I’m fixing that with our Paper Plate Tiger craft tutorial!

On a recent trip to Target, I came across the book Tiger In My Soup by Kashmira Sheth. Of course it inspired a craft in me and had to come home with us!

“Sometimes it’s almost impossible to get your big sister to read your favorite book to you. Sometimes you have to go to great lengths even to get her attention! But if you’re really creative and use your imagination, you might just get what you want. Take care, though, not to go too far. Once you conjure up a tiger, there’s no telling where it might lead…”

Not only is today’s paper plate tiger craft idea super simple, inexpensive and fun for all ages – but it also ties everything together with the awesome story above. You can easily make a full afternoon out of it as you celebrate some crafty time, as well as story time together!

So what are you waiting for? Don’t let the tiger “eat” your creative juices! Grab those simple craft supplies and follow my step-by-step animal craft tutorial below to let the “tiger making” fun begin! I just know you are going to have so much fun!

Paper Plate Tiger Craft Idea For Kids

This easy tiger craft is perfect for kids of all ages! It’s a great way to teach them about tigers and get them excited about crafting.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – 1 per craft
  • Orange Tissue Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Black Marker

Directions:

  • First cut your tissue paper into small squares {let kids practice their fine motor skills!}
  • Put a good amount of glue all over the paper plate and have your child cover it completely, with the orange tissue paper.
  • While they are doing that, cut out some tiger facial features from your cardstock. Think a pair of eyes, ears, nose and small tiger stripes.
  • To finish your Paper Plate Orange Tiger craft, staple/glue on all the tiger face features to the paper plate.
  • Then allow it to dry completely before you display it proudly for all to see!
  • BTW – this craft can be done with orange paint instead of tissue paper!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
