Have you seen all the kid crafts we have been doing and sharing on Glued To My Crafts, that are centered around our favorite children’s book?
Well – continuing on with the fun story-time theme on the blog, today I have another EASY kid craft idea that goes along great with one of our favorite piggie and elephant book series by Mo Williems.
Not only is today’s Paper Plate Elephant & Piggy Kid Craft super simple, adorable and really inexpensive BUT it also goes along perfectly with the Elephant & Piggy series by Mo Williems {our personal fav being – Waiting Is Not Easy!}
So what are you waiting for? Grab your craft supplies, follow the step by step tutorial below and get to work on making your own book characters from paper plates! Don’t forget to raid your local library so you have some books to read in honor of you adorable creations!
Happy crafting my friends! If you don’t mind, come share pictures of your finished paper plate Elephant and Piggie creations on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts
Paper Plate Piggie & Elephant Craft Supplies:
* Two Small Paper Plates {one per character craft}
* Pink Tissue Paper
* Silver Tissue Paper
* Gray Cardstock
* White Cardstock
* Black Cardstock
* Pink Cardstock
* School Glue
* Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
* Hand-Held Office Stapler
* Black Sharpie Marker
Directions:
* First cut your silver & pink tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills} Keep colors separate in two different piles.
* Now take your two paper plates and put a good amount of glue all over them.
* Have children place the silver tissue paper all over one paper plate and the pink tissue paper on the other, until completely covered.
* While they are working on that, cut out facial features for Piggie & Elephant {use the book cover as an example on what to cut out}
* To finish off the Paper Plate Elephant & Piggie Kid Craft – simply staple/glue the cardstock pieces to the paper plates and display proudly!
* Then snap a few pictures to share with us on our Facebook page!
Another fun craft idea to go along with this theme is using cupcake liners! Simply flatten/glue cupcake liners to a sheet of cardstock and add embellishments to give them life!
